Skyros (Σκύρος)
Difficult to get to but well worth a visit, via an internal flight from Athens or ferry from Evia. There are also a couple of charter flights a week from cities in Europe but not the UK.
The island can be divided into three main parts - the main populated area of Magazia, Molos and Chora on the east coast; the beautiful pine forests in the north; and the remote sparsely populated area to the south, home to the unique Skyrian ponies and where poet Rupert Brooke is buried.
