Sitia (Σητεία)
Sitia is a lovely traditional small seaside town in Eastern Crete unspoilt by mass tourism, despite the airport and long sandy beach. It has a nice harbour fringed by excellent tavernas and a population of around 10,000. The settlement dates back to pre-Minoan times. We weren't able to explore the surrounding area but the town and beach are great and we may well return.
Easily accessible by bus from Chania airport
